David Leonard
Executive ChairmanMr. David Leonard serves as the Executive Chairman of Agito Networks’ Board of Directors.
Most recently, Mr. Leonard was the Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Systems’ Desktop Switching Business Unit (DSBU). This is Cisco's largest and most profitable business unit, with revenues reaching a $6B annual run rate for FY08. During his career at Cisco, Mr. Leonard held several different executive management positions, including Vice President and General Manager of the Wireless Networking Business Unit (WNBU), and Vice President of Engineering for WNBU.
Mr. Leonard arrived at Cisco by way of Cisco’s acquisition of Grand Junction Networks in 1995. At Grand Junction, Mr. Leonard served as an engineering leader charged with developing Grand Junction’s first 100 mbs Ethernet switch.
Prior to Grand Junction, Mr. Leonard held leadership positions at Sun Microsystems, Amdahl Corporation, Cray Research and Hewlett-Packard.
Mr. Leonard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Amit Chawla
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Amit Chawla is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Agito Networks. He brings more than 24 years of telecom product development, product management, business and market development experience across wire line and emerging wireless Internet companies to Agito Networks.
Most recently, Mr. Chawla served as the Executive Vice President of Global Business Units for Veraz Networks, a leading provider of IP-enabled communications solutions in more than 60 countries, which listed on NASDAQ in 2007. Veraz Networks was formed in 2003 following the merger of ECI Telecom’s NGTS Division with NexVerse Networks, where Mr. Chawla served as CEO.
Previously, Mr. Chawla spent 13 years at Nortel Networks, most recently as Vice President of Portfolio Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of London, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada.
Tim Olson
Chief Technical Officer / FounderMr. Tim Olson is the CTO and a founder of Agito Networks. Utilizing his diverse background in cellular and 802.11/VoWLAN wireless technologies, he currently leads the technical direction and architectural planning of the company’s products.
Prior to founding Agito, Mr. Olson was Technical Leader in the Cisco Systems Wireless Networking Business Unit. He was recognized as a “Cisco Innovator” for his leadership in defining the Cisco Structured Wireless Aware Networking, a next-generation architecture providing advanced WLAN security, QoS, mobility, network management, intrusion detection, and RF management.
Mr. Olson joined Cisco Systems in 2000 following the acquisition of JetCell, a wireless startup that developed a GSM Base Station capable of providing GSM cellular service with a VOIP backend. At JetCell, he was an early employee and senior member of the technical staff responsible for system-level product specification, development and deployment. Prior to JetCell, Mr. Olson was Software Architect at Blue Wireless, a start-up that developed a platform using text-to-speech and speech recognition to deliver Internet content over cellular networks. Previously, at Silicon Wireless, a start-up that developed an advanced GSM Base Station and Base Station Controller, he was a key architects for the company’s defining macro-diversity combining feature.
Mr. Olson is a co-author of the initial proposal that is the basis for the forthcoming IEEE 802.11k standard for radio measurement resources. He holds more than 15 patents and pending patents in networking. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of California.
Pejman Roshan
Vice President of Marketing / FounderMr. Pejman Roshan is the Vice President of Marketing and a founder of Agito Networks, responsible for outbound marketing and product management. He brings more than 16 years of wireless expertise and an extensive track record to the company.
Prior to founding Agito, Mr. Roshan was Product Line Manager in the Cisco Systems Wireless Networking Business Unit, responsible for software, security, voice and WLAN management products. Roshan joined Cisco’s Wireless Networking Business Unit just after its acquisition of Aironet in 2000, helping drive Cisco into its wireless market leadership position.
Prior to his product role at Cisco, Mr. Roshan spent eight years as a network engineer and architect. Mr. Roshan designed and deployed large-scale networks for companies such as Cisco Systems and Automatic Data Processing (ADP).
Mr. Roshan’s accomplishments include participation in the IEEE 802.11 task groups responsible for security (802.11i) and QoS (802.11e); co-authoring the Cisco Press book 802.11 Wireless LAN Fundamentals, published by Cisco Systems in 2004; as well as publishing numerous wireless security and wireless voice white papers.
Mr. Roshan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic (Cal Poly) University.
Ken Lawler
General Partner, Battery VenturesA 20-year veteran in the venture industry, Mr. Ken Lawler joined Battery Ventures in 1995. He manages Battery's Menlo Park office and focuses on investments in communications infrastructure equipment, clean tech and advanced materials, and semiconductor companies. Since joining Battery, Mr. Lawler has led the firm’s investments in Airespace (acquired by Cisco), Advanced Analogic Technologies (NASDAQ: AATI), Advent Solar, Aurora Networks, Lara Networks (acquired by Cypress Semiconductor), Lion Cells, MaxLinear, Nanoconduction, Optichron, Packet Engines (acquired by Alcatel), and SigmaTel (NASDAQ: SGTL).
Prior to joining Battery, Mr. Lawler spent 10 years in venture capital at Patricof & Co. Ventures and Berkeley International Capital Corporation. Before starting his venture capital career in 1985, he worked in product management at Advanced Micro Devices and in engineering management at Teradyne and Fairchild Semiconductor.
Mr. Lawler holds Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and earned an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is currently on the Venture Capital Advisory Board for the Fabless Semiconductor Association.
Jason Matlof
Partner, Battery VenturesMr. Jason Matlof joined Battery Ventures in early 2005 and focuses on investments in networking, security and clean energy technologies. Jason is currently a board member at Agito Networks and a board observer Advent Solar.
Before joining Battery Ventures, Mr. Matlof spent more than a decade in management roles at leading technology companies. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Neoteris, which was acquired by NetScreen and then subsequently acquired by Juniper Networks. At Neoteris, Mr. Matlof was responsible for developing and executing the company’s product strategy and establishing leadership within the emerging SSL VPN product category.
Prior to Neoteris, Mr. Matlof spent five years at Cisco Systems where he led the product management team for the company’s multi-billion dollar family of fixed-configuration Catalyst switches. Before that, he held positions with Ford Motor Company, Ericsson Raynet Corporation, and MPR Associates.
Mr. Matlof received a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Carl Stjernfeldt
General Partner, Castile VenturesMr. Carl Stjernfeldt has an investment focus on wired and wireless communications technologies and services. Prior to Castile Ventures, Mr. Stjernfeldt was a partner at Battery Ventures where he spent seven years investing in leading IT companies.
Prior to joining Battery Ventures, Mr. Stjernfeldt worked for Cambridge Technology Partners as a client partner and project manager. Before that, he worked for Summa Four where he developed telecommunications solutions for domestic and international service providers.
Mr. Stjernfeldt holds a dual Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stockholm’s Royal Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. He earned an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
Mr. Stjernfeldt serves as a Catalyst for the Deshpande Center, and is a Charter Member for TiE and a Board member for NEVCA. He also judges MIT's 100K Competition, and is on the University of Michigan's Technology Transfer National Advisory Board.
